So-the anniversary approaches and I find myself thinking. So much. About Jim. I will soon be at the ocean again, and will build another shrine, this one less to soothe my raw grief and more to ask that he may be at peace, at peace, at peace.
I made a piece for him, equal parts dance and storytelling. No one watching would know that it is for him, which I think he would like.
At one point, I whisper his name, and the names of my other friends who have gone for reasons known only to themselves. The audience can see my lips move, but can't hear me. I (literally) can't speak the names aloud but I write them here--Bruce Davidson, John Martone, Danny Bell, David Jones and Jim Kopta, Jim Kopta, Jim Kopta.
