Joe Cocker has always been a superb interpreter of songs, taking each one he tackles and jerking and twisting it into new shapes, wringing every bit of emotion out of it in mesmerizing fashion, all of which has made him an iconic and unique artist. This 12-song set has some of his finest performances, including live versions of "The Letter" and "Cry Me a River" and studio versions of "High Time We Went" and "With a Little Help from My Friends," among others. It all adds up to a brief, succinct portrait of Cocker at his commercial best. ~ Steve Leggett
