MAXIMUM ROCKNROLL #332 - January 2011 - Punk Comics Issue!
The Punk Comics Issue!! That’s right! In our January 2011 issue (MRR #332), with the help of Janelle Hessig from Tales of Blarg acting as guest coordinator, we have compiled an issue jam packed with comics and interviews with artists who have helped shape the US punk scene with their medium. We have an illuminating article about the elusive and rumored still alive Shawn Kerri. She is the amazing and original, though unsung artist behind some well-known Germs artwork and the famous Circle Jerks skankin’ guy. Interviewed in this issue are the famed Jaime Hernandez and Gary Panter, who created the iconic Screamers image and some beautifully frightening characters; and Wuvable Oaf, on his hilariously funny, punk and stereotype-shattering “post gay/post bear” work with collaborator Matt Wobensmith. Also featured are comics from Liz Suburbia, Bobby Madness, Cristy Road, Ted May and Jeff Wilson, Craig Bostick, Caroline Paquita, Kaz, Ratcharge, and Liz Baillie. Cover artwork by Eric Hone. And fear not — we still have the most extensive record reviews section in punk, and all your favorite columnists!
We have just a small handfull of these.
