Back in orbit five years after its original release, Buscrates’ debut album Blasting Off returns on vinyl. A modern funk milestone, the album showcases the Pittsburgh producer’s signature blend of ‘80s synth-funk, ‘90s hip-hop grit, and spacey soul.
Standouts include the bouncy “Lost and Found” with Sally Green, the smooth “How Ya Gonna Do It” featuring Kate Moe Dee, and the sultry “Believe” with Anda. Instrumentals like “Five Days” and “Sure Shot” (with DJ Epik) hit hard, while “Turn It Out” and “Evergreen” glide into jazz-funk territory.
